Consistency Is Key

Decide what the House Rules will be for your pet and stick with them. Will your pet be allowed on the furniture, in all parts of the house, or around the family during dinner? Set the rules and stick with the same training commands and rules while training your pet to prevent confusion. This means that the cute puppy must learn these rules from the start, not wait until they are a year old and then decide to change them. Make sure that all family members are on the same page as well and that everyone agrees to consistently abide by the rules to avoid confusing the pet or perpetuating bad behaviors.
